Toronto – Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Tuesday arrived in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, for an official two-day working visit.
The office of the Prime Minister announced “Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and First Lady Zinash Tayachew embarked on a two-day State Visit to Kenya, where they were welcomed by President Ruto at Jomo Kenyatta Airport. Subsequently, President William Ruto guided the Prime Minister on a tour of an ICT Park in Nairobi, highlighting the participation of youth in AI technology.”
Foreign Minister, Taye Astske Selassie, is among the entourage.
The office of the Prime Minister has not specified what the focus of the state visit to Kenya is and whether it was Kenyan President William Ruto who initiated it.
About a week ago, Ethiopia and Kenya signed a memorandum of understanding in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. It was signed during the 36th Ethiopia-Kenya Joint Ministerial Commission, as reported by state-owned media – Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC). Culture, tourism, petroleum sector development, wildlife protection, blue economy and fisheries, correctional services, and capacity building are among the areas the two countries identified as areas of cooperation.
The Prime Minister has attended the inauguration of Sama’s ICT infrastructure in the capital Nairobi which was officially launched by the Kenyan President.
“In the company of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia @AbiyAhmedAli and his spouse Zinash Tayachew, officially opened the Samasource Kenya EPZ Limited, Nairobi Delivery Centre. Prime Minister Abiy is on a State Visit to Kenya,” William Ruto tweeted on his X page.
