In a very competitive world championship race in men`s 5000 meters, Mo Farah had nothing to do but settle for silver after failing to catch Muktar Edris.
Muktar Edris and Yomif Kejelcha did not let Farah control the race like he used to. But it was during the last lap that Muktar Endris changed gear to cruise to the finishing line ahead of trailing Mo Farah.
Paul Kipkemoi Chelimo won bronze medal for the United States of America.
Muktar Endris crossed the finishing line in 13:32:79. Farah finished in 13:33:22. Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia holds the world record in the distance,12:37.35.
Mo Farah collapsed after finishing the distance second and he was seen holding his head in disappointment. Muktar Edris wanted to help Mo Fara get up from the ground as a gesture of consolation and respect.

Yomif Kejelcha and Solomon Berga finished the distance fourth and fifth in a time of 13:33:51 and 13:35:34 respectively.
Muktar Edris` win is not a total surprise. He was the favorite as far as team Ethiopia is concerned.
Haile Gebrselassie, long distance legend and current president of Ethiopian Athletics Federation, hinted that team Ethiopia would put up a stellar performance and claim the championship title.
Mo Farah won a gold medal in the men`s 10,000 meters in this 2017 edition of World Championship and he was aiming to double his gold medal. Farah dominated the distance for a long time and had Olympic double in the 10,000 meters and 5000 meters category. He announced that this is going to be his last track and field appearance in the distance and intends to embark on marathon distance running.
Ethiopian athletes are also competing in the last day of championship in women`s 5000 meters category which is scheduled for 19:35 local time, according to information published by IAAF
