Hundreds of thousands of Cubans participated in a military and civic parade on the 58th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution and the 60th anniversary of Fidel Castro’s arrival in Cuba on a yacht named ‘Granma.’ Cuban President Raul Castro also attended the event, greeting the soldiers who marched through Revolution Square. A replica of the yacht was also carried during the celebration. Hundreds of thousands of people carrying banners and photos of both the Castro brothers marched through the square after the military parade. In 1956, the revolutionary leader Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, along with their forces, sailed ‘Grandma’ from Mexico to southern Cuba to continue the famous Cuban Revolution that began in 1953 and finally ousted the Batista government in 1959.
