On its website Cuba Debate wrote, in Spanish, about the moment when Raul Castro had to carry the ark carrying the ashes which google translate it as follows : “When the ark with the ashes reaches Raul, his hands no longer tremble. He places it against his chest, the rise to the hole in the interior of this great stone and a long sigh escapes him. This moment of the ceremony lasts no more than three minutes, but they weigh as hours on the shoulders of all present.”
Fidel Castro planned his own funeral. In line with his firm conviction against personality cult, Fidel Castro allowed no statues of him or anything like that in a public place.
At least 40 world dignitaries attended the funeral. Ethiopia’s ceremonial president, Mulatu Teshome, attended the funeral. Millions of Cubans were in attendance.
