Public Service Announcement: The Pan Am Games are officially underway.
Depending on your perspective, this will either trigger great joy, unspeakable horror or the kind of shrugging apathy usually reserved for turnips and late night infomercials. Whatever the emotional baggage, the opening ceremony, which unfolded on Friday night at the Rogers Centre, did its level best to lift spirits and excite a terminally jaded city.
Music! Dancing! Theatrics! Acrobatics! BMX Stunts! Patriotism! And even . . . Visual Tricks?
