Toronto – As has been the case over the past eight or so months, the Ethiopian government, via the Defense Force, has been making repeated claims that it has achieved significant military victory over Fano forces in many parts of the Amhara region.
“Fano forces are no longer in a position to stand their ground and fight” is a recurring statement from the government. However, the narrative from Fano forces and video footage circulating on social media tell a different story.
Despite deployment of massive government forces in the region over the past few weeks, Fano forces are reporting that they are undertaking a successful defensive war. Fighting has been reported in the four major parts of the Amhara region.
