Toronto – Silket (known in the west as “Good Friday”) – a day commemorating the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ – is observed across Ethiopia.
His Holiness Abune Mathias, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, led the Prayer at St. Mary Monastery Church in the Patriarchate in Arat Kilo area, Addis Ababa. Many Archbishops and Bishops have attended the prayer.
This was a Passion Week.in the tradition of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. The faithful go to the nearest church in their locality for prostration throughout the passion week. Friday is the culmination of commemoration of the pains Jesus Christ and his Crucifixion.
The fifty five days of fasting comes to an end this Sunday. The faithful do not eat anything between the crucifixion (Friday) and the resurrection (on Sunday).
Ethiopia, like the rest of the Orthodox Christian World , celebrated Easter this coming Sunday.
In recent years, the Ethiopian Orthodox Church has been enduring an orchestrated attack – including a move to break up the church along ethnic lines. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, despite a pious Prosperity Gospel follower, initially appeared as if he has interest in defending one of the oldest churches in the world -Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.
However, that does not seem to be the case in recent months. His government escalated a systemic attack against the Church with what appeared to be a move to dismantle it. Last month, he openly accused the church of “training armies in the monasteries in the vicinity of Addis Ababa.”
This week, his government arrested three top figures of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Sunday School organization and from the main church structure itself days after the government aired a documentary in connection with the Fano operation in the capital Addis Ababa. In the documentary, the Ethiopian government indirectly implicated the Ethiopian church in the Fano movement.

“”This week, his government arrested three top figures of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Sunday School rganization.” Borkena . The owners of this website are whining due to the recent payments made to them by Mahibrekidusan, a satanic Amhara mafia group financing fanos (radical terrorist groups), and its orchestrated massacre against the people of Tigray and Oromia.
The arrest of genociders such as the Chairperson of the Mahibre Kidusan or any other member of the so-called Mahibre Kidusan could not be associated with an attack on the Orthodox Church.
The prosperity party should CONTINUE to arrest those satanic members of Mahibreseytan who were adding fuel to the fire (financing genocide and cheering) during the two-year conflict in Tigray.
Killing prosperity members such as Getachew Melese and Million Afework definitely classifies Fanos as terrorists and cowards. Members of any political party who are unarmed need to be prosecuted rather than being the target of needless physical attacks. It is unjustifiable to kill an unarmed person who does not represent a threat. It should come as no surprise that over the previous three years, fannos have gained notoriety for terrorism, child sacrifice, and priest slaughter. They chose bars and restaurants as their battlegrounds because they are unable to fight on the actual battlefield. There is no record of any such act in human history.
The prosperity party should continue to arrest those satanic members of Mahibreseytan (calling itself Mahibrekidiusan) for their participation in terrorist attacks, sponsoring and promoting terrorism in the land of Tigray , and killing innocent children, women, and religious leaders in Tigray.
