Four University students from the Amhara region are abducted in Oromo region of Ethiopia, Amhara regional state president Temesgen Tiruneh disclosed during a press statement, regarding the situation in the region, on January 6, 2019.

They were abducted as they were returning to their parents following instability in Universities across the Oromo region of Ethiopia. When exactly and where they were abducted is not disclosed, and it is unclear whether Temesgen Tiruneh has that information or not.

The identities of students and the locality where they came from are undisclosed too.

Regarding the question as to who is behind the abduction, he said they were abducted by an “unidentified group.”  Unlike the abduction in the central Gondar zone, the abduction of students in the Oromo region of Ethiopia does not seem to be motivated by economic gain (Ransome).

The Federal Police Commission has said that it does not have any information regarding the abduction. Amhara regional state president, however, said that he has reported the matter to the Federal Police and the Defense Ministry of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia.

As well, it is unclear if there was communication with authorities in Oromo region of Ethiopia regarding the matter.

Temesgen also talked about the incident of attacking places of worship in Motta, which happened on December 20, 2019. In that regard, he said that the number of suspects in custody reached 80. Some of the suspects are individuals (Muslims) who have been operating to replace the legal Mejlis in the country.  On December 20, a church and several mosques were attacked in Motta.

In Armachicho, Gonder region where there was repeated abduction (this one is aimed at cash Ransome) of drivers and individuals in the community, about 50 suspects are in custody, he said.

    Honest Opinion laced with Innocence.
In my opinion, the news item says a volume that contain the TRAGEDY of OUR DEAR underdeveloped African Countries, from East to West and from South to North, with money-loaded African Leaders at the expense of their brothers and sisters and children.

I STOP here before I fell on the mysterious phenomenon of CURSE as an explanation for the prejudice of our dear God, up there in Heaven, against his creatures, the BLACK AFRICANS who created us in a moment of alco…… ……………..>>> I wouldn’t dare finishing the last word. .

  2. Let students choose their own field of studies or majors . No reason for a “democrat” country leaders the Ethiopian government to force students what subject to learn, if students learn their choice of study then they can organize and create a better bond with their interest of studies ,not divided by ethnicity groups.

    • excellent Hadas . No one should be forced to study a program in which he showed zero interest!!!
The Federal police has claimed that it does not have information regarding abduction of university students in Oromo region of Ethiopia.since they are waiting for the abiy’s cabinet to provide them a pile of lies so that that can but the blame on TPLF!!!

  3. An ethiopian pretencious commentator. You look like politician from the western world who paint his image o=international media to barinwash the spectators. It is just like a film for me when I see what policians of these countries act and speak in thier TV screen and what they do in reality. They use thier TV to demonise freedom fighters and they tried to tell us as if they are engaged in a sacred act .

Of course, Orthodox church clergy are trained to perform metet than they do learn the religious tenet of the church.

There are debteras who spent over 40 years learning metet. I do know people who crossed great rivers and land Eritrea during Derge regime looking for herbs and do metete.

    It is true that they do metete whe they see someone has fascinating handwriting and voice etc;

If you do deny this to us you are denying your upringing befire your neighbours and kins.

    …..le mayawukush tategn !!

Priets of orothdox church amasse, gather, a great deal of money by robbing the church. But the ordinary people has nothing to eat. Some priests are considered as a god of the church and people obey them that they fear and obey God himself. I have observed this same attitude in the western world as well. It is shameful. being christian has become a trend or vogue but not a
spiritual belief by which we subjugate ourselves , both our soul and body, to God , the Almighty.

Priests insist to be the father-confessors of thousands of deep-pocketed men , while the penniless have no one to guide them and save thier souls.

There are many poor well-eduacted monks and priests, while the rich and demagogue ones lead aluxurious life stealing the money of the poor and naive believers.

The Next government should interfer in this case. Wicked and corrupted priests claim that they have spiritual courtrooms but they do favor for the rich ones. these priests are responsible for the poverty among poor oromos or other citizens.

They oppose the independence of Oromo Church since thier resouces will be shared by Oromo Orthiodox Church. Thier claims are lame and the result of conspired act!!

The state should interfere in this case! Priests are robbing the public money. There are monks who maintain millions in the bank!! investigate freeloaders, contemptible to the poor!!
