Berhanu Tekleyared was released on bail on Monday after spending forty days in prison. He was arrested on October 18 near the Patriarchate of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in Arat Kilo, Addis Ababa. At the time of his arrest, he was assigned to document the proceedings of an upcoming meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Church.
Local reports indicate that the police objected to the court granting him bail.

I opened the link above and was flabbergasted by one of the charges. It goes ‘ encouraged the public “not to trust the government,’. That is just nonsense. Any regime should be grateful that someone does not trust it. It should be taken as an opportunity to prove itself trustworthy and thus allay any doubt. Bring yourself up to par and level with citizens first. Then the trust will come for you by the shovel. ‘ encouraged the public “not to trust the government,’? Come on man! What’s next? ‘Thinking’ about mistrusting the government? Leave this family man alone and let him go back to his angelic daughter!!!
