Toronto – Enat Part, one of the major opposition parties in Ethiopia, this week in response to continued government attack against the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC).
Highlighting attacks before the incumbent government, the statement said that what the current government is doing against the church seems to be a move to complete unfinished work [work to dismantle the church] with a slight change in its approach to how it is doing it. Among the points that stand out from the statement is that the government in power is attacking the church in coordination with militant nationalists who are in the jungle. “Let [the force in the jungle] kill and those in the city [government] persecute” is the approach, according to the Enat Party.
Furthermore, the Enat Party said that the government’s attack on the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church emanates from “religious leaning” political motivation.
Enat party’s statement came days after the Ethiopian government arrested two senior Mahibere Kidusan leaders and the Chief of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Dioceses in South and West Africa.
Leaders of the Mahibere Kidusan (chairperson Li’qe Tiguhan Kesis Mulugeta Seyoum and Secretary Memher Wasihun Belay) were released after they were detained at the Federal Police Headquarters in Mexico area, Addis Ababa, for one day.
However, Merigeta Berhanu Tekleyared, the Chief of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Dioceses in South and West Africa, who was detained on the same day remains behind bars and the government has not yet explained why it did so.
DW Amharic report, published on Sunday, said it reached out to Jelan Abdi, Ethiopia’s Federal Police Public Relations head to find out why the religious teachers were arrested and why some of them were not released. Jelan said the Federal Police can not remark on the issue as it is something that is within the jurisdiction of the State of Emergency Investigative Board. Ethiopia is still under a state of Emergency.
The Enat Party demanded the government to respect the constitutional provision about the separation of church and state , and refrain from boundless intervention in the affairs of the church. It also called for the government to unconditionally release all religious teachers it has arrested.

Mahibrekidusan is a terrorist Amhara political party. It must be dismantled,
Two fugitives, ሊቀ ቴሬሪስት Mulugeta Seyoum and Secretary Memher Wasihun Belay, are criminals on the loose. They need to be taken into custody again. The prosperity party has now fallen victim to those wolves dressing as sheep once more.
Claiming to be a religious group, Mahibrekidusan is a terrorist Amhara political party. It must be dismantled, and all its resources must be allocated to help the poor, displaced people of Oromia and Amhara. All of its resources belong to Oromia.
Mahibrekidusan is a terrorist Amhara political party. It must be dismantled; the prosperity party must continue to arrest terrorists within Mahibrekidusan (a satanic organization draped itself in a cloak of religious cunning).
The Enat Party is a terrorist party (Mahibrekidusan) that provided funding for genocide (slaughtering innocent civilians and burning and looting churches) in Tigray. Criminals belonging to the Amhara ethnic group are hiding in Toronoto and the USA, portraying Amhara genocidal groups and perpetrators, the Mahibrekidusan, as the most defenseless elements of society. Zehabesha.com is a terrorist Amhara mafia group based in the USA.
