Toronto – A covenant that is said to deny a room for religious division has taken place in Gojjam this week.
According to a report by Anchor media, the development seems to be a response to the incident in Bahir Dar involving the killing of four Muslim family members – an incident activists and politicians called the works of the Abiy Ahmed government.
Following a major military setback in the Amhara region, the Abiy Ahmed government also attempted to make the war in the region one that is between ethnic Amharas and also between ethnic Amharas and other minorities in the region.
If true, the government’s strategic approach to recover from the military losses did not work. In a recent statement that the National Security Council released, Abiy Ahmed’s administration seems to have admitted that its effort can not succeed without support from the people but the people in the region seem to be rather supporting the Fano Forces. Multifaceted machinations to turn that upside down failed to succeed.
